Nesting is typically referred to as an experience pregnant women have while preparing for the birth of their baby. That isn’t what I’m referring to here. I’m talking about a feeling that comes over many others and me around this time of year. It has more to do with melancholy, introspection and a desire to retreat.
Fall is my favorite season. I’m not exactly sure what it is; the colors, the quality of light, the crisp air or the smell of falling foliage. Aside from the obvious holiday of the month and the reminder to give and gather…I like the idea of ‘nesting’. There’s something very comforting to me about turning inward, cooking warm food, lighting candles, putting a fire in the fireplace (if you’re lucky enough to have one) and throwing in a movie or reading a book. Perhaps my next blog topic should be introversion!
