The gap between where you are now and where you’re headed next is the territory of renewal, transition, transformation or, change. I, for one, hate the 'in-betweens’ of life. They’re uncomfortable. However, we are hard pressed to escape them…unless we lead an utterly boring, static life. This is impossible since the very nature of life is evolution or to be continually evolving. We are always progressing or moving forward. Otherwise we are stuck.

The beginning of a transition phase might look like dissatisfaction with job, death of a loved one, boredom, exhaustion, loss of a marriage, etc… It can even include graduation from college and transitioning from protracted adolescence into adulthood or birth of a first child and shift from less responsibility and more freedom to parenthood.

I don’t know anyone that wakes up in the morning and says, “Yay, I can’t wait to change today!”. Change is uncomfortable because it is anxiety provoking. It takes us out of the familiar.

The journey forward is a process of discovery. We can try to embrace it and find it exciting or we can resist it. However, we do have a choice in how we choose to relate the experience.

This blog is for the many that are transforming…even as they read related links.
